Chapter 9: Expansion!

Today I am back in the office after my week off last week and there are lots of things that need to be done to keep me busy. I will be helping Emma to finish some planning of a wedding that is happening next month which is exciting. The next few upcoming months will be quiet due to the cold Winter so I am glad to be doing what I love before the quiet season properly kicks in. I have recently been notified that we are expanding and have got a premises for just West Country Wedding Planner. This should keep us busy when we officially move in and set up. It has been amazing to see the company grow and to be a part of it. It has a really great space, there will be a room for us with our desks, phones and computers, a show room full of our supplies available to hire and our very own kitchen. I couldn't be happier to hear this news and share it with you all, I am really looking forward to moving in and making the premises into a beautiful work space.

I am very excited to say that due to the wedding show that my last blog post was about, we have gained the business of seven more couples which is an excellent achievement. At the moment we are helping to plan a murder mystery wedding, this will be interesting to see how it turns out and see the guests taking part and having fun. I can't wait to help to plan all of these upcoming weddings and help out with the on the day co-ordination.

From all of this, I can only get more and more excited about our plans as a company, to see it expand and to take part in all of these weddings, helping plan bits and pieces here and there and seeing the product of it on the day. I really do love my job, it is the perfect one for me, having dreamt of this since I was 13, I know that I am in the right place. Each day I come into the office I look forward to what tasks I will be given, each of them different, there is always new information to be entered and no two weddings are the same. I could never get bored here, the variety is always interesting.

I recently was asked if my job is hard, my answer is in some ways yes, it can be nerve-racking to know that you are dealing with someone's 'big day' and what may seem like a small mistake to you could possibly be a huge one to the couple. I have done this before and it was nerve-racking (as described in Chapter 6). But when I think about it, my job isn't too hard, when I get stuck, all I need to do is ask Emma and I write it down in my notebook. If I get stuck again with the same problem, I just look through my notes and the problem is solved. It sometimes takes a while to stick in my head depending on what the task is but having it there means that if I ever doubt myself and what I am doing, I know that I have done it before and that it is in the same place that I left it. I know that I say this a lot but I love my job and I really do mean it. The challenges that I will sometimes face only make the job more interesting, and being a Wedding Planner, you can guarantee that there will always be a challenge or two along the way.

Thank you to my dedicated readers, until next week,
The Aspiring Wedding Planner
