Chapter 11: Bickleigh Castle open day

Hello again,
I know that this is my second blog post today but I keep forgetting to update you and these are two unrelated posts so this is the official information part of what I have really been up to this past week.

On Friday, me and Emma went up to Bickleigh Castle in order to set up some of our decorations for their open day, this was lots of fun! We had a look at what we could do with the space and our resources, we thought about what extras could be used to make the couples who come to visit be able to envision their day with our props. We wanted a real feeling to it so we decorated with themes in the rooms. For the ceremony room, we were a bit naughty and moved the furniture around a bit, we decorated with an Autumn theme. There were leaves down the aisles with candles in hurricane lamps half full with a Christmas nut mix that gave it a special touch. There were chairs in covers and sashes in burnt orange colours to match. There was the reception room where the theme was silver and pink blushes. We had candelabras and chair covers and sashes in here too which co-ordinated perfectly with the theme of the room. Then the last room was the dining room where it was laid out perfectly for afternoon tea with gorgeous china and matching cake stands.

It was really fun going shopping with Emma for bits and pieces to make every fine detail perfect. We went to so many places to find exactly what met our taste and expectations of what we had hoped it would look like (with thanks of Pinterest for the inspiration). For the leaves down the aisles, this wasn't as easy a task as it sounds, due to the poor weather, finding dry, all in one piece leaves became quite difficult. As I have told you all before, Wedding Planning is not a glamorous job in many ways, and picking out leaves on the floor of a cobbled car park in the pouring rain is one of those ways. Thankfully I love my job, so even though it isn't the most glamorous, it is still the perfect job for me and that means that if I have to, I don't mind getting my hands dirty!

Thank you for reading this chapter of my journey, I hope you enjoyed it!
Until next time,
The Aspiring Wedding Planner
